PRESENTATION
The rhythmic song of the cicada, its underground progression and its emergence are the poetic supports of 4kg, a solo accompanied by three musicians focusing on the inevitable time of maturation of all things. 4kg is an encounter between flamenco, contemporary dance, electroacoustic composition, flamenco musicians and robotics. Touched by the perseverance with which humans must invest to move towards their own uniqueness, Sarah Bronsard was intrigued by the imagery around the cicada and the resonance it has with human life. In the image of an insect that exists multiple years underground before shedding to reveal its imago, and to live above ground outside for just a few days, humans undertake a unique journey that no one can determine ahead of time, with no guaranteed outcome. A silent, blinded, and solitary pursuit, made up of trial, error, resistance and confrontation, but also of abandon, play, and freedom.
